I recently completed a private class for two women who had never handled firearms before. They had both decided that this was something that they wanted to do. Both for knowledge and so that they could apply for a pistol permit. They completed the NRA basic pistol class and by the end of the day were able to shoot 7" groups with a .22 pistol. They also shot a 9mm, a .38 special, and a 1911, 45 ACP. They both loved the 1911, which surprised them given the relative size of the pistol. At Strong Foundations Firearms Education we conduct gun safety classes in Cape Cod and South Shore area for individuals, private groups and general classes up to 15 people.
